Tribute to Joaquín Torres García’s Legacy

This commemorative event, has been held for fifty consecutive years, thanks to the Uruguayan Embassy, Consulate and Uruguayan Diaspora of NYC. Torres-Garcia's grandson, Marcos Torres, will be present to give a brief scope of the hemispheric influence of his grandfather's influential Escuela Constructivista in Uruguay and the rest of the world from its beginning to the present day.

GARBAGIA UNIVERSE

Overview: Garbagia Project is Loisaida's Summer Program, a series of free open community workshops with a focus on creating art with recycled materials. This year's edition Garbagia Universe expands its horizons, it will consist of a 3 week intensive workshop completely FREE for all ages.

Each week participants will be creating art with recycled materials using a different approach; 1st week will be sewing and costume design workshop. 2nd week will be sculpture, drawing and painting workshop. 3rd week will be a collective performance and movement workshop.
