Hand Built Ceramic 3-Part Workshop (April 15 & 22, May 6)

In this workshop (3 CLASSES), participants will explore the pinch pot and coil hand building techniques to create 1 to 2 pieces. Additionally, decorative techniques such as carving, stamping, perforation, and modeling textures will be introduced to make the work even more original and unique! Lastly, basic glazing will be learned to complete the works, and make them shine.
Advocate of the Loisaida Streets: The Activist Legacy of Tato Laviera
City Lore 56 East 1st Street, New York, NY, United StatesNuyorican poet pioneer Tato Laviera is well-known for his artistic contribution to the literary canon, but Tato really got his start working for various community organizations on the Lower East Side where he championed his Loisaida family.
This program will feature a screening of CENTRO’s documentary, AmeRican, directed by Vivian Hernandez-Ortiz, followed by a discussion with artists and activists who worked with Tato.
In partnership with the Tato Laviera Foundation, the Loisaida Center and CENTRO.
