Advocating for the total liberation of women, The Young Lords Women Union produced its own groundbreaking newspaper, La Luchadora, that addressed the specific socio-racial oppressions confronting Afro/Latinx women. Loisaida is very pleased to present a 4-week intensive workshop in media literacy and production for young women and their allies at the early stage of their careers, within the launch of our long-awaited El Semillero/The Seedbed. The program is slated to be lead by local filmmaker Eden Martinez. We are offering the program to local individuals who are emergent or pre-emergent artists, media workers, and/or technologists, ages 16 - 24. Participants will learn how to break down media messages, stories from the LES, strategic messaging and script writing, video production, and more.
