Loisaida is proud to bring our ongoing summer program Garbagia, highlighting and revitalizing the migrant experience, our neighborhood’s historical inventiveness, and ecological resilience. Inspired by local artist and activist, Rolando Politi, whose iconic repurposed and recycled sculptures pepper community gardens throughout Loisaida, the program uses place-based pedagogy and recycled materials to equip youth and residents in using creative strategies to address the city’s urgent issues.
An examination of participatory practices in New York City reveals the critical relationship between real estate, architecture and activism.
As part of Open Arts LES, Loisaida Inc. Center presents our Artist in Residence Open Studio and our current exhibition's Gallery Talk and Guided Tour!

During his 3-month residency at Loisaida Center, Pérez has utilized the studio space provided to make sculptures, paintings, audio and video recordings and produced a series of work including performances, video screenings and a final exhibition.
Loisaida Cultural Center is excited to announce that our new Computer Learning Lab is open to our guests every Senior Day, plus will continue to rotate a series of diverse activities every month. Live Music, Health & Wellness Info, Workshops, Tech Access and Light Snacks for our "Abuelitos".
Join us for Marie Jiménez and Carlos Jesus Martinez Dominguez's first public component of their artistic residency project: Ephimero: a Dominican Graff Perspective, an interactive archive and exhibit that functions as a platform for cultural research and community experience.
Simultaneous events at Loisaida Center and Pública will explore the tension between the traditional and the 21st century as it relates to all things FOOD. Themes and topics will include: protest, food (in)justice, colonization, agriculture, resiliency and entrepreneurship, through an audio-visual connection of the LES and Santurce, Puerto Rico.
