Cultura Pa’lante returns with the 3rd edition of “Sembrando Resistencia,” this time paying tribute to una persona muy importante en la historia de Loisaida y además, muy querido dentro de su comunidad. This time the event is in honor to our querido Chino Garcia.

Please join us for a moment of reflection, discussion, poetry, a film screening, and live music at the end of the event.

Location: Loisaida Center & Pancho’s Garden.

3pm: Doors Open

3:15pm – 3:25pm: Introduction to Sembrando Resistencia

3:30pm – 4:00pm: Intro Poetry by Kiki Cotto (Loisaida Song), Gari Cruz

4:00pm – 4:20pm: Short screening of CHARAS is Alive on Spaceship Earth by Matthew Mottel

4:20pm – 5:00pm: Panel Discussion, “Rooted in Resistance: The Future of Community Organizing in Loisaida”

  • David “DaSo” Soto, Founder of Piragua Arts Space
  • William Arroyo, known advocate for housing, community organizing, and wellbeing in Loisaida
  • Matt Mottel, artist, musician, and documentarian
