ECOLIBRIUM: Healthy Soil, Healthy Trees, Healthy City

March 21: Join Loisaida for a presentation on soil health and tree-bed conditions, followed by a field exercise examining and mapping the state of nearby street tree environments. Learn about common tree care issues, along with actions that New Yorkers and community groups can take to improve publicly available data. Our goal is to foster stewardship while maintaining and expanding the urban forest in the Loisaida neighborhood. A part of the NYC Open Data Week (3 ~ 4 PM).

La Plena: el periódico del pueblo

March 15: “La plena, the people’s newspaper” is a practical workshop on an urban Afro-Caribbean folklore genre whose history and narrative tactics have always been at the service of the mobilizations and political activism in Puerto Rico and the United States. Plenary workshop with plenero teacher Emanuel Santana. This event is part of the Workshop in Songwriting taught by Rita Indiana, in collaboration with CLACS. Open to the public (6PM).

 

Nuyorican Poets Cafe

March 27: Open Mic hosted by Solpreme, a Nuyorican Poets Cafe offsite event at the Loisaida Center (6 ~ 8:30 PM).

Wellness Thursday for Older Adults

March 14: Every 3rd Thursday of the month at the Loisaida Center (10 AM ~ 1 PM), the workshop provides Acupressure for stress relief and cravings, Herbalism classes, Nutrition classes, Mind/body classes, and Health Consultations.

Senior Day

March 1: Art Workshops, Zumba/Aerobics, Educational Panels, Live Music, Snacks, Coffee and more! Senior Day events take place every first Friday of the Month (10 AM ~ 1:30 PM).
