SUMMARY:Discount Community Tickets for THE DIAMOND (April 12-14)
DESCRIPTION:At People’s Theatre Project\, we are very excited about our world premiere production of The Diamond with performances running from April 12-23 at Teatro Pregones in the South Bronx. The play has been in development since 2019 and is borne of the experiences of dozens of immigrant artists who have contributed to the process. It is important to us that our community partners have an opportunity to attend this\, our most ambitious production to date.  \nThe Diamond follows a group of detained immigrants who conspire against a dystopian government. They lead a revolution\, but realize they will only be free when they remember who they are. Devised by and featuring a cast of immigrant actors\, The Diamond is written by Christin Eve Cato (Sancocho) and directed by Chuk Obasi (The Weaver (part II): Paradigm). \n  \nDiscount Ticket Offer \nWe are extending an offer to the Loisaida community for $10 Discount Tickets to our preview performances on April 12\, 13\, and 14 at 7:00 P.M.  \n  \nHow to Purchase \n\nUp to six (6) discounted tickets may be purchased online (https://ci.ovationtix.com/36532/production/1149838) at one time using the code: PTPTEN\nYou are welcome to purchase additional discounted tickets online\, however\, to do so you will need to make a second transaction.\nFor groups of seven (7) or more\, or to pay via check\, please email Priscilla Aguilar (paguilar@pregones.org\, Business and Operations Manager for Pregones) and copy communications@peoplestheatreproject.org. \n\nInclude the following in your email:\n\nPerformance date\, # of tickets requested\, the name of your organization\, and contact person.\n\n\nAll checks should be made payable to Pregones Puerto Rican Traveling Theater. \nChecks can be mailed in advance or dropped off in person anytime before the performance\, or brought with you on the day of the performance.\n\nMailing/Drop-Off Address for checks: Pregones Theater\, 575 Walton Ave\, Bronx\, NY 10451

SUMMARY:East Side Tree Care Demonstration & Community Planting/East Side Street Tree Survey
DESCRIPTION:Sign-up for a street tree care demonstration and community planting that will take place as part of the Car Free Earth Day Avenue B Open Street programming: bit.ly/434136I \nThe demonstration and planting will mark the kick-off of the East Side Street Tree Survey. We are looking for volunteers to assist with surveying the street trees and tree beds in Council District 2! Some of the questions will be: whether the tree is there\, concerns about health\, is there a tree guard\, are there rat burrows\, is there litter and what type\, and is there signage. \nThere are about 693\,000 street trees lining the sidewalks of New York City\, which provide various environmental\, economic\, and health benefits. 22% of the city is covered by the urban canopy\, which totals about 7 million trees\, and advocates like Forest for All NYC are calling for 30% coverage by 2035. This survey will help inform City agencies about the conditions of the street trees in our neighborhoods. \nIf you are interested in volunteering\, please sign up here: bit.ly/3EddH8I \n \nPlease contact Eddie Amador with any questions: eamador@council.nyc.gov

SUMMARY:2023 Fiesta de Cruz en Loisaida
\n  \nLet us join our voices for the Fiesta de Cruz in Loisaida\, 2023! \nThe Fiestas de Cruz are a devotional celebration where the Holy Cross is glorified through traditional songs of the Catholic religion that date from the Middle Ages and have been jealously preserved by the simple devotion of the faithful Caribbean devotees of her. \nIn its traditional form\, Las Fiestas de Cruz is celebrated for nine consecutive nights\, in which the Cross is erected on an altar in the form of a nine-step ladder and each night the Cross goes up one step accompanied by the prayers and songs of its devotees. ; until reaching the top on the ninth night. \nThis symbolic ascent of the Cross reminds us of the ascent to Mount Calvary by Our Lord Jesus\, but in the May Cross the Mystery of the Resurrection and Life is emphasized\, by which we also rise from the darkness of ignorance to the light of wisdom. \nRegister to attend here! For more information\, contact The Loisaida Center at info@loisaida.org or (646) 726-4715.
