DESCRIPTION:CUNY Citizenship Now! is having an event on February 16th\, 11am – 2pm at Medgar Evers College to provide resources for Haitian nationals in the United States with no permanent status. \nHaitian nationals in the United States on or before November 6\, 2022 with no permanent status\, may be able to apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). \n\nIf you are a Haitian who has never applied for TPS or was previously denied\, you may now be eligible to file a new application before August 3\, 2024.\nHaitians who currently have TPS should re-register by March 27\, 2023\, in order to extend their status and work authorization.

DESCRIPTION:Through a series of videos\, installations\, documents\, and sculptures\, Afro-Cuban artist Javier Castro’s solo exhibition Open Wounds questions the broken promises of a postcolonial world. While many of the practices at the center of the work on view draw directly from the artist’s experiences with the island\, the larger exhibition interrogates methods of manipulation embedded within prevalent social structures\, including language\, economic power\, and religion.
