Alejandro Epifanio Torres – Executive Director & Chief Curator

Alejandro’s extensive expertise over a more than ten-year career as a cultural worker and organizer, as well as his deep commitment to civic engagement, the preservation of our Puerto Rican culture, arts, creativity, and social justice, are embodied in his work ethic. Alejandro oversees the organization’s technology and media programs, web development, image and branding of Loisaida Inc. and the annual Loisaida Festival. Graduated from the School of Visual Arts, a multifaceted artist born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and a resident of the Lower East Side.


Paloma Obergh Santos – Administrative Assistant & Project Coordinator

Palén Obesa [Paloma Leida Nativdad Obergh Santos] is a visual artist born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She immigrated to the United States at the age of fifteen and received her BFA in painting & drawing at the State University of New York at Purchase College. Through her practice, Paloma addresses topics of womanhood and what does it mean to be a female she also comments on the hybrid-like society of immigrants who struggle with cultural assimilation, language acquisition and racism.


Paul Garrin – Creative Technologist & IT Manager

Paul Garrin is an interdisciplinary artist and social entrepreneur whose work explores the social impact of technology and issues of media access, free speech, public/private space, and the digital divide. In 2003, Garrin launched WiFi-NY, an independent, cooperative community wireless broadband network that serves downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn. He continues to live and work in the Lower East Side.


Dylan García – Programs Manager & Coordinator

Dylan Garcia graduated from Gallatin School of Individualized Study in 2019 with a concentration in Politics and Community in Urban Ecosystems. He’s previously worked as an intern at Village Preservation (formerly Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation) and as programs coordinator for NYU’s Office of Sustainability. As a research fellow in 2018 he co-created the first re-issue of our Quality of Life in Loisaida magazine, originally published in the 1970s and 80s out of CHARAS community center.


Artistic Advisory Committee: Loisaida’s Artistic Advisory Committee is made up of a mix of knowledgeable arts leaders in different fields who meet twice a year and are consulted frequently between meetings. We are honored by the support of these esteemed individuals who advocate for the quality of our programming and our mission.
